Janine Paterson has won a Blue Chip Sponsorship as part of the BE80T Central North West Challenge, the finals of which were held at Weston Park
Janine says 'Willoway Amigo (Roo) is a 14.2, 10yo New Forest gelding who I co-own with Ingrid Jordan who lives in the New Forest. We bought him directly from his breeders as an unbroken 3yo and I broke him in myself. He's actually only ever been sat on twice by other people, I'm very selfish with him!! He's such a huge character, he wants to kiss and cuddle all the time, both with humans and his best friend Maxwell! He is always fiddling/chewing things and has lots of funny little things he does for attention! He's been competing at BE90 but I was really keen to try the Blue Chip Challenge and as he was still eligible, we went for it! I'm still quite shocked we won, it's such a wonderful opportunity and I'm really excited to try the feed and supplements out on him. Roo and I also compete at Novice Silver BD, so will continue with this over the winter and hope to qualify for Petplan next year. We also would love to qualify for the Badminton grass roots final...so that's our aim next event season! Roo's 1/2 brother Willoway Free Spirit won the final in 2017 - they are out the same mare Mercury Amy - so hopefully it's in the genes!!
I am 35 and a freelance rider/trainer living near Taunton, Somerset. I grew up in the New Forest hence my love for NF Ponies! I've got 4 ponies that I compete, 3 foresters and a Connemara. The foresters all BE event and BD. The Connemara Teddy contests HOYS & RI WHP qualifiers in the hope for a golden ticket! His owner Sharon Goodman has also agreed he can do some BE next year too. I've also got a lovely 3yo by the same sire as Roo, Woodrow Prince Harry, who I bred with my good friend Alex Gambling. I'm looking forward to bringing him out next year! So life is really busy, but busy is good!! I think I survive on Coca Cola and mini cheddars all summer!
I've had ponies since I was 4years old and went through PC, passing my A Test, I've got my BHS stage 3 and PTT qualifications, I represented GB in Ireland on the pony team when I was younger, I've ridden at HOYS, RI and Olympia...I worked for William Fox-Pitt as a working pupil too! Now I rent a lovely yard on the edge of the Quantock Hills, which has fabulous facilities and also enables me to get the ponies a lot fitter riding them on the wonderful hills.
