  • Riding her first pony Shamrock when she was just eighteen months old, to now aged seventy, Clare’s passion for horses and ponies, their health, happiness and well being have always been paramount.
Having worked for another feed company, Clare knew there had to be a better way to feed horses and ponies. A feed that would truly make a difference, a difference that owners could actually see, better condition, actually touch the sleekest, shiniest coat and actually feel when riding, better temperament and way of going.
In 1996, with the help of vets, scientists and nutritionists from the U.S.A, France and the U.K Clare formulated her first product. Blue Chip Original Feed Balancer named after her champion show horse Blue Chip.
Clare’s company Blue Chip Feed has remained at the forefront of modern equine nutrition, with new innovative products that thousands of horses and ponies around the world have benefited from.
Clare lives in her dream home, with her stables opposite her kitchen window. She has three horses, Hortons Happygolucky AKA Milo, a supreme champion heavyweight show cob, who also wins at dressage and gives Clare’s grandchildren pony rides. Queensbury AKA Emma one of the most versatile, leading young show horses in the country, winning large riding horse, workers and side saddle. Not forgetting the most important one in the stable, her 37 year old pony Cassie.

  • Laura joined Blue Chip is 2018 and as Managing Director she is responsible for the leading the team in the delivery of its business plan and objectives. Laura also sits on the BETA Council and having been in the Equestrian industry for 25 years is keen to help the industry and all equestrian sport thrive with a particular focus on the welfare of the horse.

Laura, although from a non-horsey family, harboured a profound love for ponies since childhood. From negotiating rides in exchange for yard chores and loaning ponies to take her through Pony Club she finally acquired her own horse in her late teens to pursue her passion for Eventing. Her journey seamlessly blended with her professional path, primarily rooted in the equestrian industry, and has helped some of the most well-known brands on their journey to success.

Laura currently owns Jet, a young horse just beginning his Eventing career and Otto the border terrier who is 12 years old and often comes into the office to visit the team.

  • Anna's life has always functioned with a pony or horse not far away. An avid Pony Club member since the age of 4, competing to PC Championships level, and completing all PC tests including the highly sought after A test alongside BHS stage 4 and AI qualifications. Competing to Advanced level eventing ran alongside this, through ponies, juniors and young riders, including being selected for a young rider squad competing internationally in Compiegne, FRA. With a BSc (hons) in Sports Conditioning, Coaching and Rehabilitation from Hartpury, Anna went on to run a successful livery and training yard for many years, alongside coaching, breeding and managing a large equine retail and feed store. During this time Anna sat on both the BETA Retail Committee and BETA Council, in a bid to ensure professional standards in equestrian retail were attained UK wide. An interest in photography and equine marketing continues, as an equine brand photographer, working with international brands including the Event Rider Masters series, an Equine Marketing Manager role seemed a likely choice, continuing in an industry she loves. Anna helps to drive the Blue Chip marketing strategy including events, sponsored riders, business development and more. You may even get to chat over the phone regarding nutritional queries.
Today, horses are still a daily part of Anna's life, with an 11hh Dartmoor and a 17hh homebred British WB.
