The 2018 Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Rounds kicked off over the Bank Holiday weekend at Weston Lawns Equitation Centre and it was 16 year-old Lily Freeman Attwood from Shrewsbury, Shropshire who headed the 100 strong field of competitors.
Each and every rider was aiming to secure one of the two Horse of the Year Show tickets on offer for this October’s Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Championship Final and it came down to just seventeen combinations in the final jump off.
Lily delivered three immaculate rounds on board Capability Brown, a 7 year-old bay gelding owned by Emily Freeman Attwood. Over Kevin’s Bull course, Lily and Capability Brown jumped three clean and strong rounds to secure the top spot in 37.24 seconds.
The riders and ponies that finished in third to fifth took home the chance to compete in the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Masters at the British Showjumping National Championships.
