Isobel and Henrik’s pre-summer 2018 blog

To both Henrik and I’s delight summer has finally arrived! This means lighter evenings and lots more Pony Club and Riding Club activities to take part in. We have been busy competing at mostly Riding Club events lately, but Henrik and I have an action-packed summer ahead of us.
Our most recent outing was to the BRC FOTH championships at Aston Le Walls, where we competed in the 85cm combined training. I was over the moon with Henrik’s performance, our dressage was a Novice test and one our 2018 aims was to compete in dressage at Novice level. In addition to achieving an aim, Henrik topped it off when we scored 32.1%! The show jumping consisted of jumps which were all the colours of the rainbow, but Henrik wasn’t fazed by that at all as he jumped a tidy clear round. It was a tense wait for the results as I was second in my arena to compete, but the wait was worth it as Henrik and I won in our arena and came 19th overall! I am so proud of Henrik as we were in the lead throughout the whole class and his coat shone all day whilst the sun was shining, thanks to being fed on Blue Chip Original.
The previous weekend to the championships Henrik and I attended another Riding Club competition, but that time was competing in the 80cm SJ National championships qualifier. Henrik was fabulous, going clear in both rounds! In the second round the quick time was proving to be an issue, however Henrik and I put our jump off turns into practise which meant we didn’t get any time penalties. Our tips that we gained from training sessions really helped me to choose my lines and stick to them. I was competing in a team which finished on 4 faults so that we were placed 2nd but as an individual I won! So, Henrik and I have qualified for the National championships as an individual which is held in Lincoln at the end of the summer!
Henrik and I hope the sun keeps shining and we wish everyone a fun summer.
