Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round - Northcote Stud

Chloe Templeton jumps to the top in the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round at Northcote Stud

Chloe Templeton will return to HOYS with Still Got Me after triumphantly taking the top spot in the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round at Northcote Stud in Blackburn, Lancashire.

The partnership – 2017 finalists in the prestigious Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Championship – was on form to secure qualification for the second consecutive year.

Forty-three battled for supremacy in the first round over course-designer Sue Barratt’s 11-fence track, all with their eye on the two coveted Horse of the Year Show tickets on offer. Seventeen gained access to round two with initial clears with an eventual ten coming forward to a tense, pressure-inducing jump-off.

Sixteen year-old Chloe from Dunfermline, Fife kept her cool to provide another foot-perfect clear on Laura Templeton’s 7-year-old gelding Still Got Me, smoothly executing all the shortcut options to win by an impressive 2.69 seconds.

Beau Ottley proved her nearest rival to take the second much-desired HOYS qualifying place with Jason Ottley’s 13-year-old gelding Kissemmie Chatterbox.

The riders and ponies that finished in third to fifth took home the chance to compete in the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Masters at the British Showjumping National Championships.
