374 Becky Andrews and Galopin B (Super Sam)
Known as ‘Super Sam’ he’s actually Becky's husband's horse, but she has stolen the ride for Badminton! They qualified last year at the Regionals at Blindley Heath, coming 5th.
Becky says "We’ve had Sam for nearly 3 years and he was bought as a schoolmaster, BUT he’s not always the easiest, as he was a professional's horse. That said, what he’s done for Dan and I and what he’s taught us is amazing! It’s been a life long dream to get to the Grassroots Championships, and he did it for me in a very short season of eventing last year."
Becky had an 11 year break, so confidence wasn’t always on her side, but she adds "with the help of my amazing coach Jo Rimmer and this amazing horse we’ve achieved so much! He owes us nothing, and we owe him everything! He takes him job very seriously, sometimes too seriously, but there’s no other horse I’d rather be riding."
"We are so excited to be at Badminton, and hopefully we will get Dan (the husband) qualified for 2026! The dream is both Dan and I competing at Badminton together on both of our horses. I just need to find myself a mini version of Sam!"
Sam is fed on Ulsa-Cool Feed Balancer - For those prone to ulcers.
"Sam’s quite a sensitive horse, traveling and competing a lot. He started to get a little grumpy and girthy when being tacked up, but he’s much less reactive now, In fact he doesn’t flinch when girthing now, it has really helped to settle his delicate stomach. He would be one who would be prone to ulcers and Ulsa-Cool has made a huge difference to his behaviour."
