Cambridgeshire’s Rosie Walker and Grey Lad V win the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Masters

Rosie Walker and Grey Lad V were crowned the winners of the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Masters in the final class of the day at the British Showjumping National & Academy Championships 2021. Only eight out of the thirty-three starters managed to battle their way to the jump off, of which just three achieved a double clear. The combination, who started their career together in May 2020, took the win with an impressively fast time on the clock. Rosie commented: “When we did the first qualifier, I had only ever jumped up to 1.10m, this was my first big competition. London’s Olivia Sponer scoops the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round at Weston Lawns Equestrian Centre Fourteen year-old Olivia Sponer from London jumped straight in to first place in the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Rounds which took place at Weston Lawns Equestrian Centre on Saturday riding Kerry Grimster’s Conella II. Against a starting field of seventy-one keen combinations, Olivia rode two clear rounds on board the 7 year-old bay mare for a spot in the final jump off along with eight other talented combinations. Henry Squibb & Clyde Barrows are victorious in the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Championship

Fourteen year-old Henry Squibb from Brentwood, Essex added his name to the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Championship roll of honour when he took the top spot on the 8 year-old grey gelding Clyde Barrows owned by Patricia Squibb. Henry fought off 47 other challengers to take victory at the British Showjumping Indoor Championships at Aintree Equestrian Centre. Twenty-two talented combinations made it through to the jump off and it was built to allow for some galloping lines as competitors knew that only an accurate round in a quick time would do today. Blue Chip Pony Newcomers - Chard and Muirmill

  Congratulations to both Thomas Bradburne and Poppy Deakin who were the latest winners in the final Blue Chip Pony Newcomers second rounds to qualify for Aintree. With the only double clear of the class, Thomas Bradburne secured top spot in the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round at Chard Equestrian. Riding Gee Bradburne's Derryinver Rocky, Thomas crossed the finish line with his second clear round in 41.46 seconds. Poppy Deakin won the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round at Muirmill Equestrian Centre. Riding Felicity Deakin's Icaris W, the combination jumped two stylish rounds to finish with a double clear in 38.92 seconds. Tabitha takes top spot

Last weekend saw another Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round, this time at the fabulous Vale View Equestrian Centre. The winner this time was Tabitha Kyle riding Tanya Kyle's Nightgirl Van Het Sonnishof Z. This exciting combination jumped two clear rounds to finish in 36.85 seconds!
