The Secret to keeping them warm this winter

In the colder weather your horse may need extra energy to keep him warm as well as needing extra nutrients to keep him healthy. Feeding him Blue Chip Original is the simple – yet effective – answer.

 .

Recent scientific research has proven that Blue Chip Original helps keep your horse warm and in top condition. Blue Chip Original increases the amount of heat produced by your horse’s digestive system. This warms him up from the inside, helping him to stay warm on the outside.

 .

Not only that, but you can guarantee your horse will be getting all the nutritional support he needs, to winter well. Blue Chip Original contains the highest levels of digestive aids and probiotics available in any feed balancer in the UK. Along with oils, a complete hoof supplement, a respiratory supplement that includes garlic and herbs, a de-stresser, a powerful combination of anti-oxidants and a complete vitamin, mineral and nutrient package, you can rest assured your horse, like thousands of others fed Blue Chip, is in safe hands, allowing you to get on with your riding.

 .

Did you know that during the winter months horses use up to 80% of their energy keeping themselves warm, and this energy is provided by their food? Blue Chip Original actually increases a horse’s ability to digest forage, such as hay, meaning that your horse will better utilise his forage and fibre and this may mean that you are able to reduce hard feed and money. And what’s more, all this is provided by just putting a cupful of Blue Chip in each feed or just 500grams given by hand. So you don’t have to stand around waiting for him to finish a whole bucket!

 .

Why is warmth so important?

As well as helping to prevent your horse getting a chill, making sure your horse stays warm will enable him to maintain his condition and he will be better able to cope with his workload. Plus, you may get away with lighter rugs – or even none at all. Not only that, but a warmer horse is less likely to pull muscles and will warm up quicker when you ride him. Plus grooming will be easier, too, as warm, healthy horses have a glossy coat even in winter.

Blue Chip really is the easiest and most cost-effective way to keep your horse warm, healthy and in top condition this winter.

Top five winter warming tips

  • If you can, provide company in the field so your horse can ‘snuggle up’ to a friend.
  • Wherever possible choose a field with a field shelter or large trees, which can offer good protection from the elements, too.
  • When there is no grass in the field, provide your horse with hay. It’s not healthy for his digestive system to go for hours without food.
  • Horses will naturally lose a bit of weight throughout the colder months so ensure they are not under their ideal weight before winter starts.
  • Never turn him out hot and sweaty. Use a cooler rug to dry him off before he goes back out in his field.
