Amber O’Neill Competes at the FEI Junior European Championships

Dear Blue Chip   July was extremely exciting as we were finally on our way to the FEI Junior European Championships in Wiener Neustadt, Austria.  Preparation began weeks before and involved several trips up to my friend Ann Broadhurst’s house (Ann is on the Junior World Trophy Team) to start packing her lorry which she kindly shared with us.  We all had to be very frugal with what to take as it is only a two horse lorry with a small trailer behind for Ann’s carriage.  I think managing to get enough equipment for 2 horses and 5 people into one small lorry is an achievement in itself.  Fourteen bales of haylage are heavier and bulkier then you might...

Amber O’Neill June Update

Things are getting very exciting here as we get close to Austria; it’s less than two weeks to go! As we have already qualified for the BHDTA National Championships in September (the pinnacle of the driving season in Great Britain) we made the decision not to compete either pony this month and instead concentrate our resources on training. May 2012 – Amber O’Neill Update

May has been very busy for us, kicking off with a return to Ashfields Carriage and Polo Centre on the 4-6th May, for the first National event of the season. As well as being a qualifier for the BHDTA National Championships, this was also a selection event for our FEI Junior European Championships. With the Dressage phase on the Friday morning we had to arrive Thursday night leaving as soon as I got home from school. This didn’t quite go to plan when I realised I hadn’t actually packed any clothes for myself so we ended up leaving late and getting stuck in traffic! Having spent an entire week polishing everything for this event I was dismayed to find on...

Amber O’Neill Event Updates

April has been the most hectic month of the year so far! On the 31st March to the 1st April we were at the IDHT National Championships held at The College EC, Keysoe. We qualified for this event after being the highest placed Junior in the Wessex Region points league. This event was doubly important as it was also a selection event for the FEI Junior European Championships in Austria this July.
