South View Equestrian Centre Host a Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round

South View Equestrian Centre in Winsford, Cheshire hosted their Pony Premier Show this weekend and during this show, they hosted a Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round on Sunday 26th of May, 2013. The second round proved to be popular, attracting 67 eligible starting combinations. Up for grabs at this second round were two direct qualifying tickets for the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Championship Final at the Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) and all of the starting combinations were aiming to take one of these tickets home.

From the total number of starters,8 combinations went on to produce two clear rounds to make it through into the final jump off and 2 combinations then went on to produce the all important treble
clear.

Following a closely fought competition, the winner’s spot was eventually filled by 15 year-old Leonie Aitkenhead from Lincolnshire, who partnering her mother’s 8 year-old skewbald gelding Gregory 55 jumped treble clear in 41.56 seconds.

In second was 15 year-old Patrick Williams from Lanarkshire who was competing on Mary Thomson’s 11 year-old bay gelding Thorndonpark Prince Charming who produced the only second treble clear of the competition in a time of 43.26 seconds.

With the top two taking the direct qualifying tickets for the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Championship Final at the Horse of the Year Show (HOYS), the riders and ponies who finished in third to fifth missed out on HOYS qualification this time around. However, they did take home the chance to compete at The Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival 2013.
