Rachael Claridge Update

Morning all – it’s finally a sunny Saturday! I’m off training Maarhabi this morning with my friend Heather, and I have booked an arena for tomorrow when the forecast looks ghastly again! All the horses are coming on well, and Maarhabi and I will travel to the Forest of Dean next Sunday for 65km. I will then be in the USA from 13th -24th March so Tresham on the 6th April will be my next event. Looking at the FEI calendar, and the compulsory rest periods between rides, I hope to take Maarhabi to Haywood Oakes over Easter to do 120km, and Cirencester at the start of June for his 160km, with Barbury castle in August as our spare event if something doesn’t work! Or it can help re-secure the qualification! I have now managed to track down four endurance families in Death Valley and will visit them whilst I’m over there to compare our training methods and get some hints/tips! The other events I have planned for this year is Golden Horse Shoe in May with Prince Meliodas; I’m undecided on the class yet but it will either be two or three days because they now have 120km over Sun/Mon/Tues which looks fun! Silver Zenif will make an appearance at Tresham in April for 32km; as it’s just up the road from our yard I’m hoping to find two riders to take Maarhabi and Prince Meliodas so I can be flanked!” Rachael Claridge
