Rachael Claridge update

treshamWell I’m grinning from ear to ear this morning because after purchasing Silver Zenif as a four month old in 2008 he competed and completed his first ever ridden event yesterday! Zen was marked as 8.75 in 2010 BEF Futurity for potential endurance horses, however he proved himself yesterday at the EGB Tresham ride by scoring a grade one at 32km! His final pulse after the taxing route which was covering some of our home turf was 48/40, which coupled with his average speed of 10.43kmph gave us a top score! He behaved incredibly well at the open, busy and windy venue and didn’t flatten the farrier/vet or me so we were all very happy! Leah Tuck, my 17yr old crew, accompanied me on Prince Meliodas in her first ever endurance ride and she successfully completed the distance with a grade 2 with a final pulse of 50/48. Unfortunately Mel was distracted by Zenif trotting up next to him in the final vetting, however a grade two is still very good for their first event together on home turf! I have now entered Maarhabi for the Haywood oaks 120 FEI ride on Easter Saturday, and Zen & Mel for 32km at the Forest of Dean on the 27th April. Unfortunately Maarhabi did not compete yesterday due to Carolyn Thomas injuring her leg during the week and withdrawing which was a shame all round but there will be other opportunities I’m sure!

Best wishes,

Rachael Claridge
