Rachael Claridge Begins Level 3 UKCC Coaching Qualification

Rachael Claridge - Rex Photography

Last weekend Adam, Jane and I took ‘Maarhabi’ aka Charlie to the Forest of Dean ride and successfully completed 50km at 12.8kmph. Next weekend we hope to take Mel to Wentwood Forest in South Wales to complete 32km. On 26th March I have been asked to take one of the horses to Newbury Racecourse for the BEF charity race day and parade on behalf of Endurance GB at 12noon and also stand on the EGB stand with my crew and answer any questions anyone may have about endurance.

.

I have now successfully found recruits for the Riding Club Championship Qualifier at Cirencester Park in July via the Kings Leaze Riding Club. This 32km team event needs 4 riders to ride the route together and come into the vet check with low heart rates and as close to the time limits as possible for maximum points. I will let you know how Lorraine, Heather, Emily and I get on in training.

.

I will commence my Level 3 UKCC coaching qualification over the first weekend in April, Pauline Brimson who taught me for my Level 2 is hosting the training at her western yard in East Peckham. I have to return in May for the second instalment before undertaking my case studies over the summer prior to the third and fourth sessions/final assessment.

.

My employer, the MoD is supporting me, as is EGB and in return the civil service has asked me to coach equestrian civil servants. I am having a meeting with those who have expressed an interest in establishing a saddle club at our HQ in Bristol. The aim will be to host multi-discipline events and because I will be a generic coach and SME for endurance. I am keen to bring my XC/SJ/Dressage knowledge up to scratch because my Level 3 UKCC will need this experience to be demonstrated and my pony club days were a little time ago!

.

Moving on the Bodmin update – Phoenix Field Arabians now has a facebook page and I’m in the process of establishing a twitter page. We have two stallions available for AI this year – Charlie’s Dad R Ali Bey a black Eygptian Arab, the Arabian Magazine is running an article on us later this month. Then my stallion Silver Zenif who is 4, but too rump high at present to back! He’s now had his swabs and AHS registration paperwork completed by the vet so is ready to be trained on the dummy mare before his first lady on 10th April.

.

We had Ali Shahmal gelded last week, he is Charlie’s half brother and now 3. Mum has his full brother Ali Shaheen still entire, but up to sale now that he is 2yrs because he would make a great show stallion. He is very striking but ever vocal! Silver Mistrahl and he get on very well and he’s certainly keeping Misty, now 21yrs, young!
