I was part of a 4 person team on Good Friday in the Kingsleaze Riding Club 10 mile Castle Coombe treasure hunt. There were over 20 teams and we came 2nd after answering 22 questions around the route and also collecting items such as feathers, dandilions, holly leaf etc. We were pipped to 1st place when we counted 17 crosses in Littleton Drew’s church yard instead of 18!
On Easter Sunday Leah Tuck rode my part-bred Arab, Prince Meliodas, at Roman Lodge Show. They came 5th in the fine breed’s class. Unfortunately Mel didn’t want to load into the trailer and my hopes to take Silver Zenif went onto the back burner in an attempt to get Mel into the trailer after Leah had spent the night before grooming and plaiting him up. Leah is 15 and her need to attend a local show was greater than mine, and I was very proud to watch her handle and ride my horse so well in the class. Hopefully they will compete together in many more events to come this summer along side her GCSE exams!
I have entered Charlie into a 45km ride in Wales in a few weeks time, but after this event we will be taking a mini break from EGB rides due to our wedding preparations.
I will therefore be focusing not only on the wedding but on taking the horses to local shows, and EGB SW have asked me to deliver a coaching session and I am working with Leah and her family to host some at their farm on Badminton Estate, so fingers crossed!
