Karen Joynson update

Well October 2013 will go down as a month to remember, with my first ride at The Horse of The Year Show! I rode in the Middleweight Hunter Class on my new horse Lloyd (Ever So Lightly); it was truly the most amazing feeling, riding in the main arena. Having travelled to the show and watched in awe at the Best Of The Best for many years and dreaming what it must be like, I almost had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. Lloyd is gorgeous and I hope to take part in the county show circuit in 2014 both hunters and side saddle with him.

I will spend the winter training him for Affiliated dressage and getting him used to being ridden side saddle. My gorgeous Bertie (Secret Avalanche) is coming along nicely. His fitness and schooling are getting back on track and we have been asked to take part in a dressage demonstration at Barton End Equestrian Centre on 16th December, so we need to get practicing. Hopefully we can find a nice cheery Christmas song to ride too, with some Christmassy bells in his mane.

Although almost 21 years old, he has been acting like a three year old, after two baby piglets moved into a barn by his stable! At the moment we have to drag him past the pigs to get to the field and the same in the evening – drag him back to his stable, snorting like a wild beast! Karen Joynson
