Interview With Beth Vernon At HOYS 2011

Blue Chip Feed Owner Clare Blaskey caught up with gold medallist showjumper Beth Vernon at HOYS 2011, to talk about winning two gold medals in the Great Britain Pony Team and her HOYS 2011 experience.

This year Beth was part of the the Great Britain Pony Team and helped them take home two gold medals.

The team, made up of Amy Inglis, Graham Babes and Jessica Mendoz travelled to Jaskowo, Poland, to compete in the Pony European Championships in July. It took 4 days in total to get there, stopping off in Holland, Belgium and Germany on the way.

On the first day the team had a practice, where they all jumped a clear round. Beth then rode individually and jumped clear, which resulted in her being selected to jump on the team. Beth rode 4-year-old Falaza, produced by Leanne Smith, who is also Beth’s trainer.

The team competition took place on July 29th, where Beth jumped double clear and won team gold. On the individual day Beth had a pole down in the first round which put six team members on four faults. She jumped clear in the second round, taking the competition to a six way jump off, where Beth jumped clear again and won gold.

She felt it was the best Falaza had ever jumped despite the first round being very technical.

Beth jumped 7-year-old Zarina, at HOYS 2011 in the Blue Chip Feed Balancer Pony Newcomers and came 6th, with hopes to return next year.
