Just a quick email to let you know that Charlie (Maarhabi) and I completed the 24km Maryland training ride run near Chepstow, Forest of Dean this weekend.
Thankfully the weather was glorious after the rain and frost! We even had lots of blue sky and sunshine!
Charlie is now 10 years old and as you know I have been struggling with the shape of his feet/balancing and after 2011’s remedial shoeing I have just purchased a pair of Easyboot Epics from Blue Moon Equine.
Charlie has worn them a few times in training but this weekend was a real test over challenging terrain, tree roots, boggy forest trails, forestry tracks scattered with big stones, all of which he charged over the top of with these boots on. I will keep you informed with how he goes barefoot but booted, as the front hooves are growing well but he can’t go completely barefoot, hence the boots and back shoes!
We are on the waiting list for 4th March, Forest of Dean EGB ride because unfortunately they have reduced the number of entries and even though it doesn’t close until tomorrow it was full last week. Fingers crossed quite a few people pull out before the event so Charlie & I can ride, if not we’ll start our season properly at the Wentwood Ride on 18th March!
My parents are both fine, Mum’s still dashing about attending numerous meetings for Endurance GB each week.
They have their training ride in Cornwall next weekend, so hopefully their 80+ entries will be able to ride and we have good weather for it to take place,
