David has recently returned from a two day course at the Unicorn as part of the World Class Training programme riding Fox (Koyuna Sun Magic). Who is one of our main contenders for Young Rider Trials this year.
We really enjoy these training sessions – which are taken by top class trainers and feel the benefit of their expertise.
We have also started competing in “warm up” competitions locally, including show jumping at WWEC and dressage at both WWEC and Summerhouse.
David is currently enjoying a weeks extra dressage training with Adam Kemp FBHS in Gloucestershire. I am not sure staying in the lorry last night with -5 temperature was much fun though! He has taken two horses, which will be swapped tomorrow for another two to make sure all the horses get some benefit.
The horse in the picture is one of our “Blue Chip” horses – with the others being the advanced horses;
• Jake (‘Kings Cross’) who will also head for Young Rider Trials,
• Rising five year old Carlos (‘Carantos’) – heading for BYEH classes and BE100
• And Merlin (‘Bonmahon Windfall’) a 6 year old upgrading to Novice this year.
David has a few days off at the beginning of February, but has been asked to ride on the International Training Day at Hartpury on the 6th February upon his return.
We hope to take ‘Kings Cross’ – who did so well with David in Portugal last year, for the Jump training session titled “Fast but Safe” with David O’Connor. This will be followed by another two days at Unicorn 7th and 8th February for jumping training.
Recently we switch one of our other Australian horses liveried here, belonging to Wendy Schaeffer, onto Blue Chip . We have seen a real difference in his skin and coat, he really looks quite different. He will head to Fontainebleu and then Badminton from there.
