Chelsea Round is proving to be one of the shining stars of Youth Eventing in the UK and has been chosen to represent Great Britain in the European Championships in Italy this September on her Hanovarian gelding, Fleetwood Mac V, who started their campaign for selection after victory at the Racesafe Equestrian Junior Championship held at Brand Hall Horse Trials in June.
Chelsea recently spoke to British Eventing on her win at Brand Hall and said:
“I came here with no real expectations so to win is a complete surprise! My main aim was to come to get experience and I wanted to get a good dressage mark as he can be inconsistent in that phase, but he felt great. To lead throughout was incredible and I’m glad all my training with Caroline Moore and the Junior Programme has paid off.
“I started eventing with British Eventing at BE80(T) level with my last pony, and at that time I had no idea about the youth programmes. I would definitely encourage others to give it a go, I have met so many people through eventing – it’s like a family’
She has been extremely consistent throughout the season this year, gaining eight top fifteen finishes so far, including three wins at both CCI* and Open Intermediate Level, with her latest being a win at the Wellington International Horse Trials where she finished on her dressage score of 28.40, well ahead of the rest of the field.
We hope that after such a brilliant season, her and Mac can go on to take Gold at the Championships, which are to be held on the 22nd – 25th September in Montelibretti, Italy. We will be regularly updating our social media pages with her progress, but you can follow Chelsea yourself on her page at: Chelsea Round Eventing
