CABRA WEST WINS 2009 BLUE CHIP & IDHS (GB) CHAMPIONSHIP

Home bred, home produced, ridden and qualified by his owner Samantha Roche, the 10-year-old gelding Cabra West, (aka Tigger) is widely regarded as one of the most versatile, consistent and successful ridden Pure Bred Irish Draughts in competition today.

.

By the RID Skippy Too, Cabra West and Samantha have travelled widely, supporting the Irish Draught Breed and shows hosting Irish Draught classes.

.

Tigger has qualified every year for the Blue Chip & IDHS (GB) £2,000 Challenge since it started in 2004 and always been in the Final twelve. In that first season, at only five years old, he won the Pure Bred Class and was 7th and highest placed Pure Bred in the Final.

.

In 2007, he was Blue Chip & IDHS (GB) £2,000 Challenge Reserve Champion, winning the Ridden Championship again on the way!  That year he also represented the Irish Draught Breed at the Your Horse Live Event at Stoneleigh in November.

.

His 2009 season was fabulous! Tigger had qualified for HOYS as a heavyweight hunter and a very excited Sam arrived at the Irish Draught Breed Show still on a cloud, the HOYS Final being only two weeks away.  Collecting the Ridden Irish Draught Championship and the 7-year-old and over Performance Horse Class, his win in the Blue Chip and IDHS (GB) £2,000 Challenge Championship ensured he collected the highest placed Pure Bred Trophy.

.

Sam gave the HOYS ride to Rory Gilsenan and they finished a very creditable 5th overall out of 26 HW Hunters forward, but Tigger is no pampered show-only horse. He and Sam hunt all winter and enjoy hacking out along the beautiful country lanes around their neighbourhood.
