The last of the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers second rounds took place at Ingliston Equestrian Centre in Bishopton, Renfrewshire on Sunday 4th August 2013. The second round attracted a total of twenty-two starting combinations.
Up for grabs at this second round were two direct qualifying tickets for the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Championship Final at the Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) and all of the starting combinations were aiming to take one of these tickets home.
Of the twenty-two starters, nine combinations produced the double clear required to make it through into the final jump off and two combinations went on to produce a treble clear to take the top two places.
Ellie Archdeacon (14) from Cambridgeshire took the win in this second round on Greenacres Bobby, a 10 year-old grey gelding owned by Elizabeth Archdeacon. The combination secured a quick and accurate treble clear in 36.09 seconds, leaving them nearly two seconds ahead of the second placed combination.
Second place was taken by 15 year-old Faye Adams from the West Midlands. Faye rode Rainbows Mocha, a 7 year-old brown mare owned by Julie Adams and Alison Brooks. This combination also produced an immaculate treble clear, finishing on 37.81 seconds.
The first two pony and rider combinations, disregarding those already qualified, will qualify for the Horse of the Year Show. The first five, disregarding those already qualified, will qualify for the Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival 2013. Ponies and riders that jump a treble clear also qualify for the Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival 2013.
