Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round at Bishop Burton College

The Pony Premier Show at Bishop Burton College in Beverley, East Yorkshire was bustling with competitors and one of the key classes was the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round that was held on Saturday 12th came forward.

Up for grabs at this second round were two direct qualifying tickets for the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Championship Final at the Horse of the Year Show and all of the starting combinations went with the aim of taking one of these tickets home.

After two rounds of competition, sixteen combinations went on to produce the two clear rounds needed to make it through into the final jump off. Six of these combinations then went on to produce a treble clear.

The win was eventually taken by 16 year-old Alex Gill from Northallerton, North Yorkshire on Noahs Lady, a 7 year-old bay mare owned by Ian Gill. The combination took victory after securing their treble clear in just 34.97 seconds.

Second place went to 12 year-old Jack Whitaker from Whatton, Nottinghamshire with his father Michael’s 8 year-old chestnut mare Zodianne Van De Doevenbree. Jack also put in a quick third second, stopping the clock on 36.65 seconds to secure a top two finish.

The first two pony and rider combinations, disregarding those already qualified, will qualify for the Horse of the Year Show. The first five, disregarding those already qualified, will qualify for the Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival.
