Blue Chip National TREC GB Championships

TREC GB is the National Governing Body for  the sport of TREC in the UK. Originating in Europe TREC, short for the French Techniques de Randonnée Équestre de Compétition is an equestrian discipline designed to test horse and rider. With origins in France, the sport has spread through Europe, and was introduced to the UK in 1998.

In a nutshell TREC competitions consist of three separate events – mounted orienteering, a demonstration of control of the horse’s paces and an obstacle course – all completed over the course of one or two days, and points scored, with the highest scoring being declared the event winner.  TREC GB  has run over 50 Arena competitions throughout the 2014/15  winter season, and competitions are being planned for a major summer season to be kindly sponsored by Blue Chip Feed LTD, and will be known as The Blue Chip Summer Series culminating in the prestigious BLUE CHIP National TREC GB Championships on August 14/16  at Temple Farm, Gorebridge, near Edinburgh.

The appeal of TREC is manifold- open to anyone, from the serious competitor, striving for the International team competitions to the ‘happy hacker’, – one of the GB team members in the European Championship held in Italy in 2014 was originally a rescue pony! There are trainings of every sort throughout the UK, map reading , both mounted and unmounted, obstacle training etc, and it is often remarked, that would be competitors have never encountered such a friendly bunch of people!
