The girls from Blue Chip went on an exciting day out to Cumbrian Heavy Horses in the Lake District where they got the chance to gallop Clydesdale and Shire horses on a deserted beach.

Blue Chip aims to have as much customer contact as possible and when a day riding heavy horses was mentioned the girls jumped at the chance to meet Annie and her team of ‘heavies’, all of which are fed Blue Chip Pro.

The girls from the office, Sarah, Liz and Vicky along with Blue Chip’s founder Clare Blaskey, enjoyed a half-day beach ride in the stunning setting of the Lake District. Clare says “We decided to celebrate an excellent year with this fabulous experience. Everyone at Blue Chip has worked exceptionally hard making sure that the transition to Dodson and Horrell, our new distributors, went smoothly. I thought of taking everyone out for a meal to celebrate, but then thought lets do something really different and as we all ride this was perfect”.

Blue Chip’s Nutritional Advisor, Sarah Butler, says “On arrival we were matched to specific Shires or Clydesdales according to our riding ability. All the horses at Cumbrian Heavy Horses are in fantastic condition, not only do they look well, but they are very fit and riding them is nothing like you can imagine.”

.

The ride lasted nearly 4 hours through stunning Cumbrian scenery cumulating in a gallop along the most beautiful deserted beach. Blue Chip’s Marketing Manager, Liz Sayfritz, says “The weather was perfect, galloping along the beach at the end was breath-taking and to be able to take the horses into the sea was an amazing experience. It is a credit to Annie and Tim how well the horses look and how well schooled they are.”

.

Cumbrian Heavy Horses is owned by Annie Rose and her partner Tim Ancrum who have been running riding holidays on heavy horses for over 10 years. The business started with West Highland Heavy Horses, which was based on the Isle of Skye, and later moved to Cumbria, with all 20 of the horses making the 450 mile journey ‘on foot’! Annie and Tim offer many different types of riding experiences, from 90 minute rides to full-day beach rides and 6 day fell rides. Cumbrian Heavy Horses also offers carriage driving tuition.

Annie from Cumbrian Heavy Horses first ordered Blue Chip Pro to help maintain the weight of one of her endurance horses. Now all 20 horses at Cumbrian Heavy Horses are fed Blue Chip Pro. Vicky Ridgeway, Blue Chip’s Technical Manager says “We all feed one of the Blue Chip’s feed balancer range to our own horses and see the benefits on a daily basis. We have been to the races on a number of occasions to watch horses fed on Blue Chip Pro and it was incredible to see how Blue Chip benefits these heavy horses too. You would not believe how fast an 18.2hh Clydesdale can gallop.”
