Beth Vernon Wins Junior Sports Person Of The Year Award

Beth has had a busy half term, schooling the ponies as well as catching up with school work.

On Thursday 16th February Beth attended the Nottinghamshire sports awards where she was shortlisted for Junior Sports Person of the Year award.

In addition to Beth there were two other finalists shortlisted for the award; a tri-athlete, Sophie Coldwell, who had won a gold and a silver medal at the 2011 European championships and a swimmer, Georgia Hohmann, who has had many wins and excelled in swimming..

On the night though there could only be one winner and that was Beth. She received a framed certificate and a really nice glass trophy, Beth said “It was a really good night and I really enjoyed it.”

Everyone at Blue Chip would like to say a massive well done to Beth!

Beth has also been accepted on the ASDA Sports Aid Programme. She is attending an ASDA Athlete Workshop in March at The Ricoh Arena (Coventry), where she will get to meet a famous Olympian athlete, have the chance to hear from a sports psychologist and will speak with social media experts about how she can try to raise her profile through social media sites.

There is a new addition to the yard, Quainton Leona (Leona). Leona is a 4 year old that has just been backed (Quainton Lancelot x Up To Date x Concorde). Beth hopes to campaign her along with Za Touché, and is aiming them both at the 4 year old Scope final this year. Both horses are young so they won’t do much this year, as Beth will also be busy with the ponies, but hopefully they will be good horses for the future.
