An Update from Lucy

“Since the last update which was just after the Winter Championships we have been trying to move all 3 horses on in their training and also qualifying for the summer regionals. Sunny has qualified elementary and medium regionals and his flying changes are coming on well, hopefully we can do an advanced medium soon.

Dream Lover aka Bob is becoming more confident with the PSG work so hopefully I will have two young rider horses for next season. Donny is also becoming a lot more established at PSG. We entered for Somerford premiere league but unfortunately we got balloted so we decided to do a few local shows at PSG instead ,so there was less pressure on both of us. We have done 4 PSGs and achieved over 70% in all 4 qualifying for regionals first time out. We have also been working on the piaffe and passage ready for Grand Prix which he shows real talent for which is exciting.

We have just finished unpacking from what felt like a long but successful week at Hartpury Festival of Dressage. The week started on Wednesday with a 5am start where Donny came 3rd with 68 in the PSG. I was pleased with this result, this was a practice run for the next day which was the Elite stallions Young Horse Prix St George. It was another early start and the class was very strong with some top horses and riders, we came fourth with nearly 70%.

We all knew who the winner would be ( Farouche). As I was in the top 8 we qualified for both mine and Donnys first ever gala evening. I was quite nervous for this occasion as the tickets had sold out so the stands were full and before you went in the crowds were clapping for the horse just finishing.

However Donny was a star and we held onto our 4th position. It was Sunny’s turn next; although he did the Winter Championships he is still quite inexperienced in spooky environments which showed a bit in his test but we still came 3rd with 68 in another strong class. Donny had two days off ready for Hickstead on Wednesday for our second Young Rider international.”
