2014 Overview for Natasha Adkinson

Just to update you on all that’s been happening this year. It’s been a year full of highs and lows but we’ve come to the end of the competition season and I can safely say that I think I’ve come out of it stronger.

I had a fab time at the Winter Restricted Championships on Cally. It was her first proper competition on the Para-Dressage circuit so our main aim was to give her a good experience but I was delighted to come 2nd overall.

I unfortunately lost Danny at the end of March so I was unable to compete at the Winter Open Championships but I’m still proud of the fact that we’d qualified together.

I then went to a couple of Hickstead Summer Championship qualifiers and was delighted to have gained qualification in only 2 competitions. The Para-Dressage National Championships is a huge event and is run alongside able-bodied dressage so I was really looking forward to it. It was a huge atmosphere but Cally seemed to love it and I was delighted to finish 3rd overall, behind both the Paralympic and European medalists!!!

I was successfully selected to represent England and the British Dressage Northern region at the Para Home International and this would be Cally’s first experience of an international. She behaved impeccably and I was so proud of us coming 2nd individually.

I was then successfully selected to represent Great Britain at the CPEDI International 2* at Bishop Burton. This was my second 2* competition but Cally’s first 2* and also her first international. It was an incredible competition and I was thrilled to finish 3rd overall.

I have recently competed at a few winter qualifiers and have already successfully qualified for the Open Winter Championships in March 2015.

I couldn’t be prouder of Cally this year and I’d just like to say a huge thank you to Blue Chip. Cally’s kept in perfect condition throughout the competition season and I’m very grateful for all of their support. I wouldn’t be where I am now without them!
